Kuwait and Pakistan have signed a joint defence and military cooperation agreement during an official Kuwaiti visit to Islamabad, according to Kuwait's state news agency KUNA.

Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif signed the agreement. The ceremony was attended by Kuwaiti Army Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Al Shuraiaan and Kuwait's ambassador in Islamabad, Nassar Al Mutairi.

Kuwait's Ministry of Defence announced the agreement in a statement on Thursday. Sheikh Abdullah received a formal military reception during the visit.

The two sides reviewed Kuwait-Pakistan relations and prospects for closer military and defence cooperation. They also discussed regional and international developments, matters of shared interest and efforts to support regional security and stability.

The Kuwaiti ministry described the agreement as a milestone in bilateral defence ties. It establishes a framework for stronger operational coordination, exchanges of expertise and higher levels of readiness and integration between the two armed forces.
